About the event
The Olympia Chamber Orchestra will perform the first concert of the 2022-23 season, titled "The Bard".
This concert will include selections from Christoph Willibald Gluck’s Orfeo and Euridice. Orfeo is an opera based on the myth of Orpheus’ adventures in the underworld. Selections include vivid images of “blessed spirits” (angels) and “furies” (demons). Mozart’s 38th Symphony is often referred to as his “Prague” Symphony as it was debuted during Mozart’s very first visit to that city. Joseph Martin Kraus’ Symphony in E-Flat, and the third movement of Axel Jørgensen’s Quintet for Brass may introduce the audience to some exciting works that aren’t heard often.
